I know her from before.

I know her from before.

A Poem by Raymond Federle

Killing me inside, a little more each day.
Her youth and beauty seek to destroy the old,

diseased, rotting shell that I have become.
Without I am no more than just the sum of abandoned memories.

My younger self so long forgotten.
All I hold dear is a nail of light,

driven deep into the core of my sadness and dark.
It consumes me, till even the thought of my self slowly fades and perishes.

Deeply emotive...
Strange how we involuntarily hold onto that which grants our demise to give us voluntary purpose...
Powerful piece x

You have shared some very powerful emotions in so few words. Really quite impressive. I admire the depth of your poetry. It feels "real".

I love this - the emotions are very powerful - you really get to the crux of the point - your word usage is powerful - I am particularly moved by your line breaks - which is why I was intrigued by the one that you started a second second sentence in the middle of the line.

This sounds like you are talking about human aging and differences in attitude and view, because of of it. This piece expresses great sadness and a feeling of no turning back. Nicely written. Thank you for sharing.

This is real, painful and real. I really enjoyed the nail metaphor.

I love this poem. It is stark and moving. It may just be a personal preference thing, but would it be too bold to suggest breaking up the longer lines?
