The Glass is half full, but the person is empty.

The Glass is half full, but the person is empty.

A Poem by Soul Fire
"

A poem about domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse and the effects it has on yourself, your family and other people.

"
Empty bottles blanket the floor,
As she falls down and
She says to herself ''I cannot take this no more''

Its such a shame to see her suffer and ruin her life
Does it make her proud when she gets her self high?
Why does she do this to herself?

So thin and empty,
She hates herself.
She snorts some cocaine,
and bottles cover the table.
Like a mass grave of corpses cover the ground.
She yells at her lover, and makes him feel like dirt.
Starting to think he loves her but stays for her pretty face and what's under her skirt.

She was a young mother at seventeen,
Lost all her friends and her self esteem.
She's recycles her beer bottles for cash.
While her baby's father makes a quick dash.
All alone, the only thing left for her to do is drink her life away and step on cigraette ash.

Her and her lover now have been together on and off since after her baby's daddy left her with nothing.
He's loved her through it and she loves him too.
But domestic abuse, took over them.
She yells at him, making him sink.
He yells at her as she takes a drink
There relationship is more fucked than the song Love the way you lie.
He says something wrong,
She throws a fit, she throws s**t at him.
He tries to calm her down.
Before you know it there kissing on the ground.
Then he says one wrong word,
and before you know it his fist is at her throat.

There relationship is sinking like a broken boat.

She takes a fist at him, and threatens things she wouldn't normally say
Crazy b***h. He screams
and they sink away.

Before you know it, there loving in bed,
Not much thought from earlier,
Just a bump on the head,
and a bruise here or there.
Not much thought to the holes in the wall.

I've seen her suffer,
and seen her ruin her life.
Time and time again.

I've heard her stories,
Of cops,DUI's and knives.

The stories would put tears in your eyes.

I've heard the story of her and J, smoking up and drinking their lives away.
I've heard of the fights, the long nights and the cops being called late at night.
I've heard of there fights, I've seen a few.
I've heard of the time she ripped off the oven door and hit him harder than ever before.
I've heard of there break ups, there make ups and there nights on the floor.
I've heard them love, I've heard them fight, but they always say ''I love you'' and kiss Goodnight.

I just don't understand,
How she could make the same decisons time and time again.
She's an amazing person and my best friend.

Shes not the bad guy, I promise.
She's just hurting and doesn't know what to do.
She's more than the abuse she seeks,
She's the greatest person you could ever meet.
She's so beautiful and smart.
She's a spitefire, even after dark.
She's always there if you need her.
I miss when she was clean.
Clean from the drugs and the alcohol
I remember when she wasn't so mean.

She's cursed by affliction, she's loving the addiction.
She's running from conviction.
It's causing her restriction.
She's going to be evicted.
The pain she feels is worse than cruixfiction,
I just she could get clean from all her addictions.

I miss her, the her I know is there.
It's so sad to see her, do this to herself.
I would wish I could help her, but that wish fell apart
If she wants to change she'll have to start.
