Left Behind

Left Behind

A Poem by Soul Fire

Daddy’s little girl,
Momma’s love.
Hoping and praying to the God above.
My best friend,
My only companion.
You left me in the dust.
You exchanged me, and left me for a life of lust.
A slave was I in your twisted world.
Full of recycled exes and two faced boy toys.
I was a mere shadow to you and your glory.
You walk around like your best thing.
But I know better,
Oh, I know much better.
You’re a little snake wearing pretty things.
You walk around like you’re the prettiest thing,
A couple boys behind your tail.
Every dating request,
You flirt for a while, then bail.
But as soon as I get my man,
He has to be yours.
You insist I must share.
A few in the past you've convinced them to,
But my man I’m not sharing with you!
You can try all your little tricks,
And even flutter your eye lashes.
You can give him a little nudge,
But this guy is my man,
And he won’t budge.
He’s the one I’m going to marry one day,
He won’t fall under your little spell.
He is completely committed to me.
I guess you wouldn't know what that is,
Because all the boys you wanted, their hearts once belonged to me.
You insist I should share,
But men aren't things to borrow, to deal or to steal.
Reality makes you squeal!
Try again tomorrow,
Because my man is not the man your going to borrow.
