Jar of HeartsA Poem by Soul Fire
You sit there and stare,
Admiring your jar. Staring at the hearts that are barely beating. Saying and repeating things that you never planned on meaning. Your lies have killed whats left of the man I once knew. All I can ask is What happened to you? You once were the faithful husband, A golden wedding band on your ring finger on your left hand. You represented a love and bond. But you just wanted to be a James Bond. A Charlie Sheen, Realizing this; Makes you so cruel,so mean. You once were this fantastic Dad, Who knew and realized what he had. He loved his kids with everything he had. I was glad to have you as my Dad. But you took us for ice cream one day To say ''Goodbye,'' You said it's temporary. These words you were saying to 11 year old me,were pretty scary. No more Mommy & Daddy... No more table for 4, Just Mom,Liam and me. ''Just three.'' That hurt to say.. How could love just ''go away?'' Your biggest mistake was walking away, expecting Mom to do it all;and that you'd go away and everything would be okay. You cannot have my heart to join to your list. You have hurt me, But I will not join you... I'm going to be myself, Follow my dreams... If you support me, That's fine. If you don't, That's okay. This is my life.
