The Children of The Old Oak Tree

The Children of The Old Oak Tree

A Poem by Raya

The little girl fell asleep
In the hollow of the old oak tree
And all the children around her dreamt fitfully
She dreamt she got taller and older
And her eyes got harder and colder
But when the little girl saw herself do terrible things
She knew it was someone else in her body

Eventually the little girl woke up
And her skin was pale and wrinkled
But the little girl knew she was herself
Because she had the same soft eyes
And the she fell asleep in a white hospital bed
To the sound of a long drawn out beep
And the little girl never woke up again

...just a minor area I saw in your last stanza...A tragic story line here with this verse...but yet there is that endearment that she went to a better place for which the dream was not her faith...
