The Children of The Old Oak TreeA Poem by RayaThe little girl fell asleep In the hollow of the old oak tree And all the children around her dreamt fitfully She dreamt she got taller and older And her eyes got harder and colderBut when the little girl saw herself do terrible things She knew it was someone else in her body Eventually the little girl woke up And her skin was pale and wrinkled But the little girl knew she was herself Because she had the same soft eyes And the she fell asleep in a white hospital bed To the sound of a long drawn out beep And the little girl never woke up again
