My Father, My HeroA Poem by Matthew SoliguenA girl's love for her fatherYou weren't perfect, not by a long shot, But i'm fine with affordable, as long as it's something that you bought, Always smiling, always eager to lend a hand, You are taller than the tallest tower can stand, Your hands can hold the weight of the world, Your shoulders carried me from home, to the ends of this earth, You're my father, my hero, and though kids called me lame, You made me feel special, I just wish I could've done the same, You should've told me what you really felt, those nights spent in tears, The nights you regretted taking care of me for years, You said you never wanted me, that I'm just a mistake, That day when you and mom made love in the still water lake. You pretended to love me, You said you were fine, You cared for me though I ruined your life, And all these years you piled up regret, And it's eaten you up, cause it's hard to forget, I drew you a picture, a family in our place, And I went in your room to see those tears in your face, Your hand was shaking as it held your gun, You said you were sorry, and the next I knew you were gone. All these years, I still remember that day, A hole in your head splatters blood on my face, And though you never loved me, and you liked to play pretend, I will love you forever, till my life comes to an end, Cause you're my father, my hero, and I love you so much, And forever I'll miss the fake warmth of your touch.
