What is Love?A Poem by Matthew SoliguenAn age old question.
What is love, such an age old question,
Some say it's punishment, and some say a lesson. Some believe that love is needed to grow, Some lived their life without needing so, Some say it's when a daughter kisses her father, Some when they feel the warmth and hug of their mother Some say it's a gift given from above, Some say a curse, the wrath of a god. Some need it always in times of desperation Some rarely want it, and live in deprivation Some say it's an armor, to protect you from harm Some say an arrow that can break both your arms Some work hard for the love of their children Others are loved without even trying. Love is trusting when there is nothing but lies Love is being blindfolded yet you know the surprise Love is when you wake up, not alone in your bed A family to love you, a roof above your head Love is when a child cries when abandoned by his mother, Yet a stranger came instead and acted as his father, Love is having siblings to annoy you all day, The soul is so weary, yet the love always stays. Love is when the skies seem blue when they're dark, A fire of hope burning from such tiny sparks, Bridges are built from hope, faith and love, A map for the lost seen like eyes from above, Love is being lost, yet knowing the way, A shower of hope from the darkest of days, Love is a curse, for trust can be broken, Yet love is a blessing, for hope can't be stolen, Love is like dying and still living life, A day of hope comes from decades of strife, Love can hurt, its pain is unreal, Love can mend, and love can also heal, Love is there in time of need, Love is lost when the lust is what you feed, Love is like crossing the street, Look both ways, stay on your feet, The moment you stop, your life stops asunder, A moment of silence and a lifetime of thunder, So what is love, A lesson? A banter? Nobody knows, but you hold the answer. © 2017 Matthew SoliguenAuthor's Note
