Till We Grow OlderA Poem by Matthew SoliguenGo on, be brave.
I held your hand besides the still waters
Ever so loving you rejoice As the leaves burn and the air grows frigid The warmth of our hands held us together Like moth to flame we are inseparable Even the nocturnal obsidian will not cut us apart You stare at me, eyes so young and lovely I remember when you first kissed me As we are surrounded by the envious trees The gray moon looked down upon us in wonder You asked her if she was lonely. Yes, she told you. Then you looked upon me and kissed me with your hyacinth lips. You made Luna jealous, I say And we made a promise to stay the same And you held on, a promise to never change as the moons pass our promise held. I looked upon your wrinkly eyes Such young, beautiful eyes I held your hand as Luna looked down upon us again. She smiles as she sees us Still the same, she says. Your smile lit up the world like fireflies on the open fields I took your hand and kissed it A promise to never change. Then we sat upon the flame of a dying campfire An ode to Luna that one day we will join her among the stars. I still cry whenever I see your face, my love The envy of stars has become of you While you're up there tell this to Luna will you? That she wait for me up there. For now your ghost haunts me. The memory of you. Yet somehow, you are the only ghost in my life that I do not fear.
