The Castle

The Castle

A Poem by RayLynn

A princess.

That’s what I am when I’m with him.

Not the damsel in distress, I need a knight in shining armor kind;

But rather the kind where I sit on my throne, my head held high and my jeweled crown nestled in all the cocoa colored ringlets.

The kind where a single look can call him to action and let him know that I need him.

One word from me can open a whole world for us.

He’s there to dry my tears, to widen my smile, to put the ache in my ribs that can only come from an overdose of laughter.

He’s always with me and someday he’ll sit beside me on a throne of his own.

But for now he’s just a page and I’m just a fair maiden, until the day we close the 400 mile gap and rest at once in a castle of our own.
