The Difference

The Difference

A Poem by Thecreekdontrise
"

world problems that hit home.

"
change Pictures, Images and Photos

We've marched
sang our souls out
and have protested.
We Still Do
those that want to be accepted
the ones that fight to get their equal rights
homosexuals
immigrants
children of 3rd world countries
they want what I
take for granted.
what I've never realized
took a big
part of my life
until now,
Acceptance
simply to get married
live in the land of the free
or
being able to go to school
they fight harder than Ali
and sing louder than Aretha Franklin
they even paint better pictures than Picasso
never wake in the presence of fear
they look up farther past that stars
way beyond the moon
they are who I look up to
because they fight
knowing what they know
that things may not change till
my generation hits the house.
till we make that change
patience is their virtue
ignorance is their best friend
they have more knowledge of their lives
then the people making them statistics
they are what America was built on
Change
the will to die free
and the politically correct
they are
our fathers
they
are
my
role models
they are,
The Difference.

Nice. This is a wonderful topic. I really like seeing poetry tackle the "big issues." You do a fantastic job in this poem. Call to arms kind of poems are a lot of fun to read. Thank you for this! All the best.
