No Roses

No Roses

A Poem by Denise Deas

The Rosebuds are dying

Everyone's killing them

No one wants to remember

They call him Mr. Murder

that is if they ever speak of him

They thought he was the best man on the block

The Rosebushes are dying

Everyone is killing them

No one wants to remember

His whole garden was of roses

Pure white roses, Sun yellow roses,

Blush pink roses, and

Blood. Red.

He would cut the girls a rose

Everyone he saw

He'd be such a prince. Kiss her hand.

He'd lay his picked rose in her delicate fingers

Cutting off the thorns to protect their smooth hands

The Rosebushes are dying

Everyone is killing them

No one wants to remember

Looking back, they all should have been suspicious,

They were all decieved

They were all fools

The Rosebushes are dying

Everyone is killing them

No one wants to remember

When her screams woke the night

When her frantic father ran from his home

Scantily clad

When her best friends crawled through the window

No one wants to relive his mad laughter

The rosebushes are dying

Everyone is killing them.

No one. Wants to remember.
