Heat.

Heat.

A Poem by Denise Deas
"

It. Is. Hot

"
It's 5:29
It's rather sweltering
It's time to close my eyes
It's time to just think
It's 5:30
Sweat won't cease
The room is stuffy
For some reason
Unbearably so
5:32
The walls
They seem
to close in
On every side
Still 5:32?
My breathing heightens
Now 5:34
I sit up in a panic
the ceiling above
It's red
Still 5:34
Since when
was there color
Anywhere in my room?
5:35
The black cloud
descends
leaving my room
Bare and Empty
5:36
That's when i screamed
I shot up in bed all alone
Stifling heat means madness
It's too damn hot.

Great job. I like the use of time in this poem, and building of tension. Great job.

I like that. Your comment made me laugh at the end "its hot" who would have thought of that. When it gets closer and closer to summer I can't sleep at night. I open all my windows and sleep without no quilts but it is still too hot

I'm with you. I have nightmares if it's too hot while I sleep. Vivid poem. Felt like I was in the room with you. Need to jump in the pool now to cool off. Great write!

Very good description. When the heat is that hot. Time to sleep outside on the patio. I like this poem. You create a interesting tale. A excellent poem.
