End of the YearA Poem by Kat Leighode to my friends
The end of the year is drawing near.
A time to reflect on what has passed.
A time to remember the rough times we had
The easy days that came on time.
A few days from now and soon it will be over.
One more year shot down and only one more to go.
With changes come things most needed
Sometimes things unwanted stay forever
Forgetting the ones who tried pulling you down
It’s easy to overcome them
When you’ve got the friends that helped you year around
The ones who shaped you and found you
When they have gone and nothing’s left
Their lockers emptied, their books returned
The hallways vacant and ready to be filled
With future forgottens and nothing more.
When the final school bell rings
Will you remember those who left?
When the welcoming committee waves
Will you forget?
