day 28, 29, and 30

day 28, 29, and 30

A Poem by Pia Van Ravestein
"

three tanka

"

(28)

i.

she shakes herself out,
the limp, pale morning touches her,
they dance, skin to skin,
her hair wreathed in dawn's flame;
body drowning in the day.

(29)

ii.

sand on her fingers,
a desert before her eyes,
warm eucalypts sway
before the harsh Summer sun,
she has fallen into warmth.

(30)

iii.

she folds herself in,
night reaches forward, careful,
wraps her in shadow.
her hopes, darting sparks of light
that fade fragile in the dark.
