when i go back

when i go back

A Poem by Pia Van Ravestein
"

part of the 'coupling' series

"

when i go back

i want to cut off your nose

and burn it.

i want to take your eyelashes

and make wishes of them.

you will have lippy eyelids.

you will look like the snake you are.

i want to sever your larynx

and serve the gristle

to your voiceless head.

i want to curse you

with the knowledge of my grandmother.

i will need wax, a jar, honey and ribbon.

i will need your eyelashes

which i wasted on wishes

when i stared at your back

and wished for five knives instead of fingers.

This poem is definitely .. different. Brilliant still, but different. I don't think I've ever read anything quite like this, and I like that. Very original, very good.
