Snapped

Snapped

A Poem by Raven Madd

Given to such harsh misconception
Living in the lie of honesty
Berating my mind with deception
Because it's easier not to see.
It's not too difficult to imagine
A world in which everything is right
Where I walk with complete abandon
Why would I ever want to fight?

Is it not inconceivable
That the price of trust is vulnerability?
Is it not achievable
To find in myself some tranquility?

In a mind where blood flows freely
In a soul since shattered completely
The shadows rise to take creation
By the throat to damnation.

This night these tears are guaranteed
To awaken bloodlust from it's slumber
To plant the ever growing seed
Of hatred pushed deep down under
The forgotten memories of the horrors
That plaugued my mind endlessly
The whispered words that stung and tortured
Until this was all that was left of me.

Take this flame and spread it further
Until their screams reach my ears
Hear them plead with heavenly father
No god can protect them from their fears.

These words may well be tantamount to foreplay
Hellish passions climb higher to grip my blade
Ready to be unleased upon my weakened prey
To sink steel into flesh until I see their lives fade.

Midnight crawls past with no respite
From the blood shed in her shadows
Endlessly into this chilled night
Until the sun shone upon the gallows.
By then the rage had since subsided
To reveal a scene of utter destruction
And a broken mind so misguided
Madness calls for the final induction.
