NightfallA Poem by Raven Madd
Look behind these anguished eyes
Into the wrath that resides there This tumultuous energy that lies inside It is more than I can hope to bear. Like a sky torn open by the hand of god A torrential flood of disturbed thoughts Swirling in my head as I maintain this facade Seeing the signs as I cast my lots. Nightfall could not come sooner A shroud of comforting shadow Dancing in the soft blue Lunar Light that washes away my sorrow. The day breaks, sanity does too My sanctuary fades away The sun wakes, I can't make it through Not even a single day Without her sweet scent Without her demure visage These memories I lament All originate from this image. Pain fades, that's what they say But the years have not been kind These blades, they had their way With my flesh and my broken mind. She looks at me and now I see My memories begin to fade away Her pain, it makes me free Because I know it won't stay. When those shadows come to pass Let the night shine darkness within Get lost in the stars, lying in the grass Feeling the chilled air on our skin. We can stroll leisurely, hand in hand Through these abandoned streets We'll set aflame the entire land And cleanse from the earth all deceit. © 2014 Raven MaddReviews
