Chapter 4: How??

1 Day Till Birthday
Scarlett's POV:

I wake up with the sun shining in through my window. I get up and stand by the window looking outside. I open the window and lean out. It's such a beautiful day. The sun is shining, the birds are singing. I decide I'm going to go to the beach. I get my bikini on and gather my beach things and leave my house. But, when I open the front door and there is a box on the mat in front of me. I grab it and go back inside.

I sit down and see a card on the top.

Guess who??

That's all that's written on it. It leaves me confused. So I decide to open it. On top is a letter. I open it and read it first before I look at what's in the box.

Dear Scarlett,
I'm sure you weren't expecting this, but I thought I would surprise you. I hope you like it. Happy early birthday, Scarlett.

Dustin

Okay. I open the paper that's folded over and gasp. Inside is the most beautiful dress I've ever seen. I lift it out of the box and see that it's the exact dress I described to Dustin. Tears begin streaming down my face. They're tears of joy.

I run back to my room and change clothes. I then leave my house and go back to where we first met.

I just hope he shows up. I think in my head.

Dustin's POV:

I was outside her house watching her sleep. Yes, I realize that sounds really creepy. I see her open her front door and find the present I left for her. I watch her open it and then see her cry.

Oh no! She doesn't like it.

She then runs to her room which I can't see, and she comes running back in a different outfit. She leaves her house and I follow her from the shadows. She stops in the forest where we met for the first time.

"Please show up Dustin." I hear her whisper.

I then wait a few minutes before appearing behind her.

"Did you like your present, Scarlett??" I ask.

She jumps when I speak, but quickly turns around. She jumps towards me and throws her arms around my neck and hugs me tightly.

"How did you do it?? I couldn't find it anywhere!" She exclaims.

"You can get a lot done if you have the willpower.

"Huh??" She asks, confused. I just shake my head.

"It's nothing. Now, what shall we do to pass the time??"

"Let's go to the park. I want to swing. You can even push me." She giggles before running off, while pulling me along.

10 minutes later
At park

Scarlett is giggling as I push her back and forth on the swing. I then get in front of her.

"MOVE DUSTIN!! I might kick you!" She screams, afraid.

I shake my head no. "Jump. I'll catch you!"

"Are you sure??" I nod and hold out my arms ready to catch her. She takes a breath and then jumps. She shrieks on the way. I catch her in my arms and she buries her face in my neck.

"I told you I would catch you. I will always catch you." I whisper into her ear. "Hey, wanna look up at the stars??" She nods and I take us to a hill and set her down. I then lay down next to her and look up at the stars.

"They are so beautiful." She says in awe.

"Yes, you are." She looks at me in shock and begins leaning towards me glancing down at my lips when........
