Ethereal Storm King

Ethereal Storm King

A Poem by Raven Starhawk

How to commence?
Knowing is partly the crusade
Nothing comes uncomplicated
She hadn’t been sure of herself then
Why should she be sure of herself now?
A needle sticks in her arm
Monitors attach to her
Yet to some it doesn’t matter
Life is a bitter and gloomy wasteland
Those within are nothing despicable monsters
They indulge in their obsessions

Pass over fallen bridges
Connective correction ceases
Tremors control and pain migrates
Muscle weakness foreshadows decay
Bone chips away, embeds sorrow
Parasites mark fibers
Wash away maggots that burrow deep
Slipping ribs ride on rot
Whistling darkness bends aching reeds
Candles wink
Lights shed their skins
Lies fed do not absorb

Atomic whirlwinds dance in my head
December flurries encase me in casual disruption
Memories claw their way back into thoughts
Fleshy hooks reel in their victim
Shattered glass lay strewn on the floor
Bloodshot eyes search frantically
In the belly of the beast suspicious stirs
Deliverance is a fairytale
In the blizzard all will be lost
Do not strike down the insolent
One sided stories take flight
A time of judgment is in dire need
