PrologueA Chapter by Raven StarhawkRue Blacker Prologue Darkness cradled Dennis and he discovered emptiness and its glorious silence desirable however, it wouldn’t last as he roused with a jerk. His double vision prevented any sort of certainty as to his surroundings, but the familiar scent of lemon cleaner provided him with a clue and slowly reality filtered through the haze. He didn’t know how long he stared at the white stucco ceiling before realizing Ian was gone. “But you’re not alone,” a voice proclaimed, prompting him to spring to his feet and hunt for the source. As he turned and turned again walls corroded, rusted and warped; wood bubbled, swelled and cracked. “What the hell is going on,” he heard himself cry as he collapsed onto a decaying floor. “Hell,” the distorted voice replied. “Hell is exactly what’s going on.”
