A Story by Raven Starhawk

Once upon a time there was a house of candy. Its walls were made from the flesh of aborted babies, their tiny faces a decoration that merely enhanced its other worldly charm, but it was the windows looking in that gave this place a true mark. Legend has it its glass was forged from severed eyeballs and if you look close enough you can see tiny optic fibers to support this. But this is not a story about a house as much as it is about the things that live inside it.

It was a place of unspeakable acts; a soiled portion of earth that was rumored to have been the Devil's destination when he was cast out of heaven, thus making it a gateway to hell. In fact that is how the house achieved its name, but there is more to Hell House than just a silly name. Haunted souls came here to perish or pass on some message of importance for reward while others came with great reluctance, perhaps even forced.

But the worst was yet to come because humans dress their abodes to suit dishonor.

Here I gazed upon a different star. Earth is so small yet home to billions of sleeping robots that want knowledge though they are afraid to accept it I shooed away the fiery driblets as though they were fireflies and avoided his piercing crimson stare. The dust cloud under my feet soon faded and the world was below in clear view. It looked so peaceful and beautiful with its greens and blues, but it was a planet born to die.

As I gazed upon the body I grimaced.  Those eyes staring upward were frozen for all eternity.  Her slightly parted lips never would be kissed again. Then there was that ugly split from her throat down to her torso and I turned.
