Marked

Marked

A Poem by Raven Starhawk

Revelation wraps its suffocating wings around fragile expectations in preparation for judgment day

For the ill equipped crude instruments wed rage and flesh

Bodies endlessly plummet through disfiguring degrees at Hell's request

And so arrives a chorus of injustice

From yawning wounds sobs diminishing hope as eyes are closed and heads turn

The mask of the innocent protrudes inward like gleaming steel spikes

But truth be told, sold and bastardized...

...blackened hearts beat no more.
