A Poem by Raven Starhawk

October 31st

Heeding to opaque notes exuding from the piano in the corner, I take into myself the images of qualm

I peer with wide eyes out the window at the crashing of waves below…

…still admiring melancholy cords while drifting among a famous psalm

There are endless seeds to sow…

…nightmares to bestow

But as day approaches I cannot face the light

Like maggots it feasts upon my heart

For I have a regrettable plight

And it pursues a dangerous art

a dangerous art similar to that of anne sexton, john berryman, sylvia plath and others...
when the writing doesn't pull us away from the depression but leads us further into it.

your work has a haunting quality and a raw feeling that i really relate to.

A dangerous art indeed. This poem has a flow to it that continues singing even after the reading is over. It is good to read you again. (:
