Face Full of Cuts

Face Full of Cuts

A Poem by Raven Starhawk

Incorporate the conception as a solitary numeral…
…concealed by shadows while dust clings to stucco

"Do you think you are beautiful?"

I am but a lowly devil...
...swimming in the mouth of madness...
...infested with decay's maggots...
...destined to become just another dweller...
...in my own disease.

"Do you think you are lovely?"

My face is a device of pain...
...I take this knife...
...And make pretty cuts...
No.
No.

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, as you might figure I am not the least bit frightened by writing with the imagery invoked throughout the piece. i have friends who have gone through that situation and i am happy as always to read the powerful work you've produced just this year alone. a million cheers. if i could give another rating of 100 after this I would. But for now my first rating of 100 will do.

Seperated but reads well, almost makes one read aloud, well done.

This is wonderful as always. It's very deep, emotional, painful and descriptive.
You expressed your heavy feelings through this, i like your structure, and hard work to make it nice flowing. Thanks for sharing..Keep it up :D

So many levels to this...you hold the talent of blistering perception through minimal lines that caress darkness as well as light, perfect! xoxo

IMHO...cutting simply joins the inside with the outside...expressing the inside as pain ..on a lovely face of slashes.

I love the way of your writing, the context, the shape, all of it. This is probably one of the darkest but beautiful things I have ever read. Can't wait to read more from you!
