The Pebbled Highway

The Pebbled Highway

A Poem by Raven Held
"

Inspired by 'On the Road' by Jack Kerouac.

"

The Pebbled Highway

If we counted every sad night
That has eaten up our souls,
If we charted every step
Of the journey off the road,
Might we
Have located that paradise
Where wide-eyed travelers go?
What is that vapoured desert
That snares our dreams;
What is said of
The feeble mist of our tired breaths?
Our plodding feet
Hear only the commands of
Our hopeful hearts,
For we know the way.
Deep down,
We know the way.
Soon, the skies
Will shed their fabled tears.
And those glistening roads that curve the trees
Will take us home,
Home where we always longed to be.

Nice one :) I remember someone to have said that man leaves home in search of something, only to find it when he returns.
