Send It To Heaven

Send It To Heaven

A Poem by Rave
"

a small child writes a letter to her deceased mother

"

Dear Mommy,

I was just wondering

if you could see me

from the heavens

if you are watching over me

like you promised you would

you said you would be with me forever

in my heart

but I don't see you there.

I don't even hear it beat anymore...

I hear Daddy say you killed yourself

but that couldn't be true

could it?

you promised

you promised

you would be here for my first day of first grade

you promised

you promised

so where are you?

I sit on the side of my bed

and listen for you, Mommy

where are you?

where are you?

I'm waiting Mommy

I've been waiting

Daddy says you didn't care

but I know you did!

every time you hugged me

I knew you loved me

even if you smelled like smoke...

even when the guys you brought home hit me

and you watched

I knew you meant to say stop

and that you loved me

Mommy

Mommy

when are you coming home?

Daddy says that you're not coming home

that you're in the sky

but I know you didn't die

I know you love me

but it hurts

when Daddy says you just were fighting for me

to keep me on your taxes

what are taxes?

Daddy says I'm too innocent to understand that you were using me...

Daddy is wrong...

isn't he?
