Dear Moon

Dear Moon

A Poem by Rashi
"

A request to Moon from Night

"

Dear Moon,

Let me gift you,
A sky full of stars,
Twinkling their own
Silvery light across.

Let me gift you,
A cool wind,
That walks by your side,
With its light footstep.

Let me gift you,
A voice of silence ,
Which keeps you and me
Awake, echoing in our ears.

Let me gift you,
A few drops of innocent dew,
That tries to climb the
Leaves, in hope to reach you.

Let me gift you,
An ounce of sleep,
That runs away so quickly,
From the eyes of those tired.

Let me gift you
Everything I can offer.
Let me stop you,
From walking away from me,
Again and again fortnightly.

Because, I, the Night,
Am alone, drowned in darkness,
Without you being on my side....
