Strange Dreams

Strange Dreams

A Poem by Michal Adams
"

Just something I threw together one day. I was trying to sleep but I kept thinking of a brokenmirror, then this flowed out onto a piece of paper I found. I slept very well that night. =]

"
I've been having a few strange dreams
And scarier then it may sound.
I find myself all alone
With nothing but a mirror on the ground.

But wait, it gets stranger.
For when I look in the mirror.
I don't see my own reflection,
And to my own terror.

I see some one elses.

Oddly enough he doesn't look happy.
Nor does he look sad.
It really makes me think.
That he must live a life so bland.

But last night my dream changed.

I was still alone.
And the mirror still layed there.
But this time when I picked it up I dropped it.
And for a moment.
I wished I had handled it with more care.

But wait?

Now when I look in it.
although it may be cracked.
I actually see my own reflection.
And he looks right back.

And then it all started to make sense.

The mirror before was perfect.
No cracks, no smudges, no nothing.
The face in it there-fore couldn't be mine.
What a wonderful meaning has come from my mind.

For I am not perfect.
A fact I can now let be.
And the truth is.
My imperfections make me me.

Adam, there's nothing I could tell you that could sum up this peice. But it's great. Although my head is still a little foggy and I had to reread it a few times, I enjoyed it each time. :)

Michal Adams,

For I am not perfect... the symbolism is outstanding.

Dreams are the most intriguing piece of us, as mortals, we don't understand.

You interpret your dreams here, rationally adding a touch of common sense with the mix (I believe your interpretation is accurate).

I like this write and I think it deserves a place in the Enlightenment contest on Poetic Infusion Society's group.

Have a wonderful evening,

Legacy

This is wonderful! Hard to believe you came up with this while you were trying to sleep

oh, what a fantastic ending! such a true statement, and a striking poem in its entirety. living a perfect life would leave a person stripped of anything that could make life worth living, and that is something that needs to be reiterated every now and then. i am very happy i stumbled upon this poem, because it made me smile and reminded me of why i am who i am. thank you for sharing!
