Dead Boy

Dead Boy

A Poem by Rashmi

Saw him eating an apple

And asked him for a light

He said you picked the wrong time

He had been in a fight

Told him he talked like a dead boy

He said that sounded cool

Said most of this year he’d been high

And crashed in a swimming pool

He said I had a granny voice

And eyes like a snake

I said that wasn’t too nice

And that he had a sorry face

I met the dead boy everyday

And made his life hell

But he’d always sit and stay

Said he knew I meant well

Dead boy brought me a butterfly

With orange violet wings

Told him if he ever came by

I’d break all of his limbs

Saw dead boy a week later

Looked deader than a zombie

Gave him a fat caterpillar

Promised to follow him to Abercrombie

I made dead boy come alive

That day I saw him almost cry

And a funny voice inside my head

Said, you know you preferred him dead

What a brilliant twist and turn of life... of fate... of the walking dead come to life again. Your form and flow move this so smoothly deep within the heart and soul.
