Kindred Spirits

Kindred Spirits

A Poem by Marlon Ferguson
"

Lost loves revealed...

"

In tune all kindred spirits sing

          And friendships, faultless, fly

          Through far, forgiving skies--

          A rapture upon wings

An earnest word well-sent and true

Doth gild the bitter thoughts of man

Like light directly sent or dew

          Upon a harrowed land

A candid gesture, warm and real,

Doth melt the best defenses known

So too can touch our hearts reveal

        Though lost and overgrown.

          Well-kept too many secret loves

          With time and circumstance between--

Whose only witness, lost, to prove

          The worthiness that passed unseen

In tune all kindred spirits sing

          And friendships, faultless, fly

          Through far, forgiving skies--

          A rapture upon wings

The title of the poem drew me in to read it and I love how you repeat the first stanza as the final stanza in the poem, Marlon. I adore your use of "Olde English", it is my favourite kind but not heard of on this side of the world, not even in present day England. I love the whole poem, but the second stanza is my favourite. I love how you tell your reader that a heartfelt word will coat in gilt (gold) a man's and have the same effect as dew upon dry land. Wow! A eloquently penned poem, filled with excellent depiction and use of various figures of speech. A true delight to read, I so enjoyed and thank you for sharing, Marlon...

First read of yours Marlon and I really do love this type of writing... As a poetess I enjoy classical writing ..not always...but like classical music and painting I am drawn to it..
Although every line is worthy of more than one read I find that these lines are my favourite...I relate to these lines...

Well-kept too many secret loves
With time and circumstance between--
Whose only witness, lost, to prove
The worthiness that passed unseen
