The Cure for LonelinessA Poem by Marlon Ferguson...only you can do it...Loneliness is a lather-- A soapy, dopey, emotive evocation Designed to smother. We pile it on, Rub it in, soak up the concoction, Redefine it, opine about it, never win And, still to our dismay, anoint our skins With the wisdom of fools--and taken in By the folly of familiar ways, Hold it to our breasts until the End of Days.
Loneliness is a curse. Why, then, don’t we shy away? Refuse to play, admit it’s not ok To sleep while worldly wonders whirl around? Taste of love! Delight in pleasure’s sweeping sound! Share the warmth of hands outstretched O’er non-impeding seas from every land, Or tendered casually from far-flung stars unknown. One touch can calm any turbulent inner zone.
One touch, one being, one continent, one world, One galaxy, one universe… Magnificent and diverse. For all mankind, Loneliness is a state of mind. Dispel it now and feel for all you’re worth. Unfettered hearts reign indomitable and view Tough challenges as the milk of Life’s mystique. Rejoice! (For you are entitled to). Your value is both infinite and unique.© 2022 Marlon Ferguson |
