Peacebreaks

Peacebreaks

A Story by .

While I was asleep you turned this water into walls
You taught yourself how jump, not how to break your falls
While I was asleep you drew a picture full of pain
And now your favorite shirt is ruined
The arms are full of stains
While I was asleep you wished that you could simply die
But you haven't enough courage
So you'll just lay there and cry.

A strong north wind blew in over the water
And she tilt her head back, saying goodbye to the stars forever
No more pretending that I'm alright
Or talking to the moon and never sleeping at night
The courage blew into her hands with the wind
And the flame sprung forth
Feeding itself on her skin

Though the tears ran down her face
She smiled as if she had never seen the light
Nor heard a sound so sweet
As the breeze blowing through where her body had been

She twisted in agony and then lay still
The waves lapping beside her
Trying to reach the flames
Whispering I'm sorry I'm sorry
Over and over again.
