Rise and Shine

It crept upon me slowly 

one dawn on nightmare street 

silent calls in cushioned halls 

of every room to peek 

Lost among the shadows 

captive by the trance 

to see another world beyond 

the music and the dance 

Tracked the call of nature 

passed every blade of grass 

felt the wound of heartache 

Amongst the shattered glass 

Fragments of a story 

forgotten by the years 

memories of love displayed 

around this scattered sphere 

Saw the soul of longing 

reflecting eyes I knew 

amidst an open broken heart 

your light of love 

shone through!
