CompanionA Poem by Vani JalagarI still remember those days We played below the shade of banyan tree, Played holi together in the colorful fountain Enjoyed every drop of rain. Friends are quilts; they give a heavenly feel, There is no word of “betrayal”
Everything is warm and honorable.
No feeling of supremacy
and lowliness No ignorance and no
selfishness They never wished to
see me dull and cheerless Living without them is
worthless. They share my pain and grief, Every instant with them
always gave relief.
