The TowerA Poem by Randy LuckieMy human frailty and weakness confronts temptation, and without grace, I would fall to the tower of despair. The Tower Off in the distance What's that I see Through the mist I know I should flee I feel the world And its evil stain Is there a salvation For tiny me to gain The tower so tall Yes, it beckons me Black and cold With an eye to see Reason and justice Seem to fail Oh! How the tower Makes them pale The sun at my back Grows my shadow long Towards the tower shade That swears I belong Wine and laughter Song and dance Of these things The tower does perchance The eye that sees Knows I am weak It hurls the answers It knows I seek Through the dark wood I find the gate Should I step through And seal my fate The truth is a lie And the smile a frown In that world that lives upside down From high above I hear a song and sweet is its sound A warning of something wrong I heed the verse And turn my face I run and run Away from that place
