My Sega Genesis

My Sega Genesis

A Story by Randy Johnson

My parents gave me some money for Christmas and I bought a Sega Genesis thirty years ago tonight. I bought it on October 3, 1991 at KB Toys. It was an early Christmas present.
Early in 1991, I thought that the original NES was excellent. But when I saw my friend playing his Genesis, I was amazed because it was better than the NES.
I had decided to get the Genesis but when I heard about the SNES, I was strongly thinking about getting it instead. But I soon learned that the SNES cost $199. I didn't have enough money so I got the Genesis. The Genesis only cost $149.
My Genesis included "Sonic The Hedgehog" for free. I liked Sonic The Hedgehog because I was very good at playing it. I could beat it and I beat it several times.
When I got my Genesis, I was only twenty years old. Now I'm fifty. Time sure does fly. Thirty years ago tonight I was a very happy man because I bought a Sega Genesis.
