Mom's Generosity

Mom's Generosity

A Story by Randy Johnson

DEDICATED TO AGNES MARIE JOHNSON WHO PASSED AWAY ON MARCH 6, 2013.

Even though I have a bad memory, I still remember three things that happened on the last Friday of May in 1979, which was exactly forty years ago today. School was out for the Summer, my next door neighbors moved out and I bought two children's albums at Kmart.

I only had enough money to buy one record. I was looking at two records and having trouble deciding which one to buy. Suddenly, here came Mom and made a suggestion. She said she would buy one of the records for me so that I could have both. That was an act of kindness that I'll never forget.

Mom was a kind and generous person and what happened forty years ago today proved it. Mom was one of the greatest mothers on the planet. A woman came to my house and said that Mom's ghost is living in my house. I wish that was true but I don't think that I could be that lucky.
