Trump's Triumph

Trump's Triumph

A Poem by Randy Johnson

Donald Trump has 306 electoral votes and Hillary Clinton has 232.

Hillary's supporters are causing violence and that is a lousy thing to do.

Her supporters claimed that Trump's supporters would cause violence if he lost.

Now Hillary's supporters are doing the exact same thing because they're crossed.

This hasn't been like an election, it has been like a circus.

Trump won fair and square and the rioting and violence fill me with disgust.

Google and CNN are hiding the fact that Donald Trump won the popular vote as well as the electoral.

But with 74 more electoral votes than Hillary, it's not surprising and this violent behavior is immoral.

Because of Trump's triumph, Hillary's supporters are having a fit.

Trump won the election and the rioters need to grow up and get over it.

This poem attempts to take a complex issue and put a simple frame on it. The protesting and riots are not just a result of Hilary losing, but a result of Trump's racist rhetoric that won him the election. Also Trump supporters are not exactly being innocent or mature either. Have you not seen the racism that is rippling across the country? I feel like people talk about the violent protesting, but leave out the nonviolent ones and the racism that suddenly (it's not sudden) appeared across the country. I do not agree with violence as a means of protesting, but if marching the streets is what protesters want to do, then they have that right. I hope the reckless behavior Trump invited fills you with disgust just as much as violent protesters.

Got it in one. We call it democracy. Maybe they should look at the countries who don't have this privilege.
