Choices

Choices

A Poem by Alexanda Corrin
"

In the end it all comes down to a simple choice, just like any other.

"
I wonder,
What is a worse thing to do?

Is it wrong to understand nothing of the emotions of man,
Or worse, to forsake them?

If...
For the sake of your own sanity,
Or the sake of your personal goals,
Morality had to lost...
Torn to shreds.

Which path would be chosen,
That of a depraved sociopath?

Or the path less trodden,
Ignoring base instincts,
Going against every thought that crosses your mind.

Which is worse,
Oh I do wonder.

A lack of knowledge,
Or purposeful ignorance.

I suppose,
In the end,
It is just a simple choice.

If you aren't killing, you will be killed.
if you aren't hunting, you will be hunted.
Devour to survive.

Unless you're like me...then accepting a helping hand will make you think yourself a weakling...that being said, fight hard, fight strong, and make sure you prevail...nice poem by the way

Your mind seems to made a choice along the way - all on its own ...yes?

I'm not sure where you wanted to go here, but you didn't quite get there. You're close, but tell me more about the choice. Thank you.

Interesting poem! It reminds me of a quote from an author named Patrick Ness, "We are the choices we make." Whether you agree with this statement or not, it is an intriguing question. Thanks for the poem!

Thanks for reading my poem and commenting. Ooh, I like that quote, it does resonate with this poem!
Balance in all things ... too much of anything is bad.

Ignorance is bliss and power corrupts ... the easy way out is choosing sides, being neutral and balanced is the hardest endeavour but it brings peace and it's rewards are much greater.

Thanks for reviewing, I really like your outtake on this poem!
Between a rock and a hard place. The rock being the fundamental believe, the hard place being the compromise. What to chose ? I find that back in your poem. Well done.

Thanks for reviewing, that's what I was going for so I'm happy you got that from my poem!
I love the two lines: "A lack of knowledge, or purposeful ignorance." Wonderful word choice for the entire poem! I interpreted the poem as a fight between right and wrong things to do. I really love this.
