Ode To Screaming Baby

Ode To Screaming Baby

A Poem by Randi Beatse
"

My adorable infant wouldn't stop screaming. This was born.

"

Please stop crying

Please please please

I rock and I beg

I swing and I sway

But these tears of yours seem to be endless

Oh please stop crying

I promise you this

I’ll do anything

Just give me a moment

Even a second of something but screams

There you are

You’re falling asleep

I think I’ve won now

You’re still crying but the eyes

Oh the eyes are closing

Your cries are getting quieter

And your screams are less and less

Is it possible

Is it true

Are you quite honestly going to sleep

The screaming has stopped

You’re finally out

Will you stay asleep while I lay you down

Is this a risk I even want to take

But you’re so heavy and my arms are growing sore

I don’t have a choice

I’m going to do it

God save my soul

I slowly lower you to your crib

And as your peaceful face hits the mattress

You start to scream

God. D****t.
