As seen by a Gull

As seen by a Gull

A Poem by Ramona Hughes
"

This is a poem about meditation, and how it makes me feel...enjoy!

"
I imagine myself as one of the gulls,
Reeling high above the rest.
Coasting and floating on the cool damp breeze
As it pushes against my breast.

The sun breaks through the soggy clouds
Burning off the night;
Changing the colors of the pale grey sky
Into shades of pure delight.

I dip and swerve among the hues
Of orange, pink, and yellow;
My mind is clear to understand,
My soul is free to follow.

I do not think of anything
I soar completely free.
I have forgotten all my cares
It's rapture just to be!

I gaze upon the Earth below,
She smiles back up at me.
I know that soon she'll call me down,
She likes my company.

The other gulls I spy below,
All vying for a place,
Behind the ancient fishing boat
They prove an awkward grace.

I know that soon I'll join them there
To hover,dip, and dive;
But just for now, I think I'll stay
More vibrantly alive!

What a gracious piece of poetry....I used to meditate, haven't done it in ages, this makes me want to fly again. Simply beautiful....

Ramona, I absolutely love this. You transported me to a sky dwelling gull flying with the clouds, looking down at the ocean. They rhythm and rhyme were perfection and I do believe I will save this in my favorites, so that I can open it again and fly free as a bird....beautiful. Thank you for sharing this one...
