Dreaming of Her

Dreaming of Her

A Poem by Hitchhiker

amid the noise makers of Halloween
you stand out my dear
I recognized you through the sheer veil
your face was sad
but your eyes
were bright and cheerful
I took in your fine body
with eyes of my on encircling
your waist so inviting
and breasts
my god, to please any man
your short skirt calls attention
to slender legs leading
beyond the hemline toward
the shadowy place
men have fought wars over
eh . . . listen!
you are talking and laughing
the echo of your voice
rests forever and a day in my core

many nights thereafter
I sleep with you in my dreams
I have fallen in love
with a woman I can never have
