One Million One Thousand and Three

One Million One Thousand and Three

A Poem by Rakerman1

A million teardrops later
My eyes still wet and red
Reliving every moment
And everything she said
A fool to still remember
The feelings she forgot
A million teardrops later
And each one shed for naught

A thousand nights of anguish
When will the torture end
Don't need another lover
But sure could use a friend
She made her weak excuses
For bringing me such pain
A thousand nights of anguish
And each one spent in vain

Three words she softly whispered
They seemed so pure and true
I thought my dreams were answered
When she said "I love you."
A million tears, a thousand nights
How time drags slowly by
Three words she softly whispered
And each one was a lie.

This is one of my favorite of yours. Again, nice words and descriptions. I absolutely love your poetry, you have a talent.

This is an incredible piece. I can picture someone muttering these lines into the bottom of an empty glass quite often filled with scotch. The repetition and connections with the last line of each stanza were remarkable and gave your work a lyric quality. I like how you stuck to a defined rhyme scheme, but you did not force any of the rhymes (people can tell when you're forcing a rhyme, and you're often better off going with a more natural "almost rhyme"). This seemed very natural. This glimpse of your talent shines bright. Welcome to the cafe!

Wow. This has left me completely breathless. Your use of words, and repeating the second lines, and rhyming all add to the effortless flow and raw emotion of this poem. This is definately going in my favorites, thank you for the amazing write, and keep it up.
