The Pied PiperA Poem by Candle in the windThis is not the piper who tricked the mice and led them to the sea. This is the piper who played of his own volition and gave of his own bounty. The swarming mice lost themselves.
I had a pied piper
Who charmed my thoughts away
With his melodies
His tinkling laughter
His heartwarming smile
Which lit up my world
He liberated my spirit
My thoughts followed him
As he pranced along
Playing his myriad tunes
He unveiled new horizons
Which enticed them along
He would play his pipe
Whenever I would ask
I was no connoisseur
Yet he would let me taste
New flavors and intoxications
My thoughts swarmed after him
Wafted by the bliss
As he walked along
With a jig in his step
Then those swarming thoughts
Came to the brink
They plunged into the sea
And are now bobbing up and down
In deep dark swirling waters
