The 50'sA Poem by RainEveryone dances to the music of their own time.. Written for a contest..for funEveryone dances to the music of their own time
I danced in the 50's when the beat was mine
Collar turned up, hair combed back
Elvis in the blood, Little Richard on track
Me and Carole Houle, every Friday night
Long black hair swinging in the star's shine light
Jim Dandy, don't you be no fool
Jim Dandy came to the rescue
Ain't no fighting, just a dance contest
Shake Sugaree is what we did best
Give me the 50's and sweet Peggy Sue
"In the Still of the Night" I remember you
First love a calling, I won't forget the thrill
A new sound coming off of "Blue Berry Hill."
Unless you lived it, you'll never understand
We buried Pat Boone and his "Letters in the Sand"
Bobby soxs, cherry cokes, swingin' pony tails
Souped up cars, cruisin' main, and those "Happy Trails"
Black sound's blasting making you weak in the knees
The King of Soul begging... Please,Please,Please
You can have every single decade past
Give me back the 50's, when the mold was cast
