Words Written

A Poem by Rain
"

Why I write the way I do.

"
I write my songs about lost loves
dreams that might have been
memories of summer nights
stories with a bitter end
my words are written about the past
sometimes it's hard to explain
They are who I am and what I feel
I find beauty hidden in the pain
I can't write about happy times
even though I've had my share
I am a poet of the down highway
of lost souls who wander there
I guess I got a ways to go
I guess I ain't quite grown
I hold on to misery
to the pain I've always known
Maybe someday I'll change my style
write a different song
Maybe someday it all will fit
I'll be someone..I'll finally belong
But for now my words
tell the story of me
all that I've seen
in my quest to be free

you are right, your words may seem tragic but they are beautiful because the are REAL, like you.. trust me no one reads your work and thinks "oh he is so ho-hum" because you always have something interesting and wise to say thru a life that's seen many things... it makes me want to live, maybe not the same experiences you've had, but the depth of your experience.

I just love the words you pen. Have yet to find anything that I don't like. You are a very talented poet, there doesn't seem to be enough words in a dictionary to tell you how much I get out of all your writes. they bless my heart and soul. Thank you, for sharing your gift.

It's the hardships that free the writer in each of us. It's the compassion that we learn by going through it first. It's the insight we gain by standing there alone. It's the hope we offer others by walking the hopeless paths.

It's the most precious gift within you.

everywords like a jewel in this gem of a poem.
such a sad narrative but I can relate well.
being drawn the ugly and lonely side of my life in my poetry and being unable to convey my happiness at times in them.
a poem about someone falling in love or describing flowers can be good but theres always more than that...the crumble of those flowers in a lonely ex's room and such....
you're one of the most amazing poets on here.
I adore your work.

I loved this piece.. I myself feel i have written my best work while i was going through the worst of times.
And even though things are better now, i find myself still holding on to pain and anger that spill on to pages as i write.. maybe i too will change my style, but i know that im not alone, and my words, other can truely relate to. Excellent write ; )

This is a very beautiful poem. I as well seem to have trouble writing about the happy times. I believe that it is easier, but harder at the same time, to write about the pain in one's life. Pain seems to have a greater impact on someone's life than the happy times. Maybe that isn't so. But to me, it is easier to remember everytime that I have been hurt, for it leaves a scar on my soul and possibly even my body. It is easier to write about something that you have always known than to try to step out of that and write about something you have not entirely felt. I love the last line, "in my quest to be free". I think this is a great piece because so many people can really relate to it on so many different levels.

Thank you for sharing this work of art.

What a n excellent look behind what makes you tick... I think it is easier to hold onto pain then happiness, guess cause it tends to come back and effect us and happy times are just memories... a very powerful piece.

Oh, no, there is light in your words. You love life too much to sign a tragic song.

This is absolutely a brilliant piece of writing! I can highly relate myself with it because I also always write about something for which I really feel very strong and most of my friends suggest to change my writing style but I love to write in that way, the way with which I belong and that's the single thing which makes me happy! So, firstlythere is nothing wrong about it and secondly any writing should always come from heart, a forced work will always lack that sense of passion according to me
Even here, I found your words sad and intriguingly tragic but the most important thing isthat they describe the real person inside of you and that is the thing which matters most!
I love to write about tragic tales and that is the single thing which makes me happy (Quite ironic though!)

Over all, it is a great piece of writing, so full of passion
