Everyone's gonna get caught

Everyone's gonna get caught

A Poem by Rain
"

Revised

"

we used to live down by the old shoe factory
me ..you..and tommy..popcycle sticks in our spokes
playing on the old sewer pipe drains
laughin and lying, with your daddy's stolen smokes

candy store dreams that non of us bought
afraid of the dark, afraid to get caught
be slick...be smart...use all that you got
times running out...
but in the end
everyone's gonna get caught

everyone falls in love some time
everyone tryin to stay cool
hot summer nights, pegged pants tight, bleedin over some teenage rule
that was us way back then...that was our youth, hopin to keep what you got
too young to stand up..too weak to man up,
but in the end
everyone's gonna get caught

everyone changes, and the time rearranges
the way you look at your self
bicycles in garages, childhood mirages
things you place high on a shelf
maria she moved on, with a kid on her own..
tommy he still plays the game
the memories are all broken
cats still stand round token
nothin to defend but your shame
you got to take it and go...forget what you know
the summer streets are hot
no time to be who you're not,
but in the end
everyones gonna get caught

i left it all behind, cept that bicycle of mine
burnt out street lights and a twisted stop sign
it was just life i was livin...the life i was given
i never complained a lot
i had my fun...i did what i done..
i earned all that i got
maria's somewhere in omaha
tommy's no-where..
waitin on drugs that he bought
i'm unloadin trucks...ain't getting paid very much,
but in the end
everyones gonna get caught.

everyone's gonna get caught, my friend
it's just how it is...and has always been
you can find you a rainbow, search for its pot
hide in the suburbs, make you a lot
raise you a family, give it all that you got,
but in the end
everyones gonna get caught

there's a rhythm to this life
it hides between the noise
of grownup responsibilities
and yesterdays childhood toys
there's places to hide
bandages for the wounds you fought
but in the end
everyones gonna get caught

I had to review this piece. It reminds me that when I was in school I was always the straight and narrow because I was never smart enough to figure out how not to get caught. i think it is a monumental part of of my personality the part that admires people who take the risk. I especially admire the people who have mastered the art of keeping from getting caught.

this piece has a superb charming rhythm that speaks to every reader.
/everyone falls in love sometime
everyone tryin to stay cool.../

This was always my weakness, it is not a secret I keep well, unfortunately for me.

I love this piece.

A piece you can't read only once. The flow is fabulous, and it leads you gently into each line.
At the beginning, it's almost a very fun peace, but the truth is hidden in an almost darker sense.
I really do like it.

I don't know how I missed this one on your first page. What a wonderful way to open your reads this morning. You imagery always supurb and everything you have placed here is going to touch a piece of someone whose heart is reading.

I really liked these lines because they just kind of reach out and smack you in their truth.

"there's a rhythm to this life
it hides between the noise of grownup responsibilities
and yesterdays childhood toys"

And thus a poet finds his words within a lifetime of memories.

Wonderful as always my friend.

Hugs,
Lesa

How true, we all get caught and we all getaway with something. I could see me back when I was a kid.

Yea life catches everyone, we can't run, we can't hide. We just keep living without regret, like you said:

i had my fun...i did what i done..
i earned all that i got

So we move on. Excellent write as always.

Rain, what can I say but excellent.

The flow and rhythm was like listening to a smooth jazz song.

The last I checked your site was closed and I was a bit bummed thinking you had left.

Glad to see you back and open for business again.

Well done!!
