didn't we...

didn't we...

A Poem by Rain
"

thoughts of love and life in california in the late 60's

"
didn't we laugh
didn't we run like a couple kids
didn't we dream it would last forever
those days of dark skin from the burning california sun
old red vw..and faded jeans and trips to the mountains
to watch the sunset
laughing friends everywhere
we would change the world...we would lead the way
we were warriors in love...we filled the air with music
didn't we..

we played in the rain
we were new
how could they be so blind
how could they not hear us
those days of flowers in our hair
didn't we yell loud enough
how did we slip away
where did we go
memories of playgrounds
houses filled with so many dreams
and us
there would always be us...always

we were young and on fire
the world was ours...we owned the heavens
didn't we
somehow the winds changed...we changed
doesn't anything good last..
those days...
that beautiful time when everything was new
when everything was possible
gone...gone...gone
where did we go
how did we become a memory of another time
still...we danced and laughed and loved
didn't we...

Yes.....the "unstoppables " we were ...

I feel really blessed to have been a part of those times...
we were selfless.... we wanted to run away and join the peace corps.....or Green peace
I felt ... "FREE" back then ...
We lived "outside" - the box ...we knew our neighbors...we helped strangers...
we acknowledged others walking opposite us in hallways at work, school...and down sidewalks

the days of....

" steal this book'
"Burn that bra"
" stop that war"
" love the one you're with"

..... The seven words you couldnt say on radio or t.v....( remember them)

we were...
"Hair"
"Woodstock"
we ..." sat-in" for peace...
and ... " stood-up" for rights

we gave up everything to acheive something for someone else
not for ourselves

yes we were unstoppables

Loved...this Ray

Blesssssssssssssssssss

::::: pumping my fist with love-beads and dashiki and on and insence burning ::::

I am always moved by you. You put my heart on the screen over and over. I think that you are the male version of me. You know what I think if that? Thank God that at least the male version of me is thin. Hehehe :)

All kidding aside, you put me to words. I can see a bit of me in everything you write.

Thank you for being you. Let me know how you are doing.

Oh yes those happy memories ... when has it all ended or didn't it?
Hopefully also nowadays there are and will be happy moments filled with laughters, simply forgetting about all worries ...
Yes it was a wonderful, unproblematic time back then when we thought we could conquer the world ...

A piece I could easily imagine as a song - a country song may be, I could practically hear the guitar playing to your words.
I like it, you made me go back memory lane with it.
Thanks for sharing. Nice work.

Ah, yes, the seasons of change - captured marvelously here - chains of flowers in your hair nad the marvelous feeling of freedom although I believe these can be recaptured when you use your mind's eye and sometimes act like a kid again. Thank you - lovely write.
Light,
Siddartha
