Yesterday Callin

Yesterday Callin

A Poem by Rain
"

Just looking at the passage of time.

"
little boy's dreams
how do they run
baseball and Christmas
and silver space guns
sunshine and mudpies
but oh, how the time flys
ah,but it's easy
life's so easy...he smiles

then comes a young boy
whose life has begun
hey, look at me
ain't I someone
first love and phone calls
but oh, how the time crawls
cuz, it ain't easy...life ain't easy
he sighs

I been dancin with a memory
of a time I once knew
when the street light...was moon light
and my plan was all new
soft rain fallin ... yesterday callin
say it's easy... say it's easy...he sighs

then comes a young man
who works for his play
and the memories of playgrounds
slowly flitter away
hard knocks ... time clocks
got a front door... with a few locks
cuz, it ain't easy ... life ain't easy
he sighs

 now, comes an old man
whose race has been run
and he, like the child
knows the warmth of the sun
look...see him prayin
listen ... to him sayin
god, it's easy
life's so easy
he cries

he's been dancin to the memory
of that time he once knew
when the street light.. was moon light
and his plan was all new
soft rain fallin ... yesterday callin
say it's easy ... so damn easy
he cries...

Brilliant to describe your work is a word most fitting. I am working my way through you titles. Each one I open gives me another look into someone who has lived a hard road and yet continues the journey in faith that the road ahead holds much in store. You are not afraid to put you whole self out for everyone to realize that someone besides themselves can cry, can hurt, can regret, but can still find themselves giving and loving. You have a great day sweetie.

Hugs,
Lesa

Life's journey, how easy it looks until we begin to live. Nice write as usual. Clear and thought provoking words. Hummmm!

Life's got a funny way of seeming easy and hard at differnet times hehe. Right now, where I'm at, it's looking easy but goign to be hard in a bit, gotta work and get to school so I can have a career. Going to do it though, since it's all worth it. In the end I'll be able to look back and reflect on those times in the soft falling rain, recalling the moonlight of the street light. Someday I hope I'll look back to yesterday calling to me, and I want to be happy with the life I have. :) Thanks Ray for sharing this poem with all of us.

I love this as if it was right now. I'm so happy to have read this. I'm going to yesterday this weekend. Back where I grew up. Where you grew up. Leaving tomorrow night. Smiles... I'll be there before the DAWN...
This is sunshine in my heart, the words are brillant.

Wonderful and poignant write, Rain! It echoes my thoughts as I progress thru life and the life stage that I presently occupy. It also brings to mind the sayings of my parents, when I was younger - "These are the simplest times of your life - enjoy them. When you are older, you will understand what we are trying to tell you." ... and now I do understand. Thank you for a lovely, memory-filled write! ... TD/Rebekah :)

Wonderful!

Every time I read one of your poems, I think it's the best so far, then I read another and...

This is extraordinarily formatted, love the way you've set it... as to the words, they'd surely touch a snowman and melt him.

' he's been dancin to the memory of that time he once knew when the street light.. was moon light and his plan was all newsoft rain fallin ... yesterday callins ay it's easy ... so damn easy he cries... ' The move from one period in life to another and the melding of experiences and feelings into old age.

Thank you, thank you, again.

definitely reads like lyrics..great rhythm throughout, and i like this part a lot:
hard knocks ... time clocks
got a front door... with a few locks

and comparing street light to moonlight makes so much sense, everything is always more romantic, grander in scale, in hindsight. reminds me so much of the stories my dad tells me about his childhood, of when the kids would play stickball in the street, well into the evening.

This read like a lyric to me. It's life, how it twists and turns through excitement and adventure to fear and pain and struggle. Well captured. Would make a great song, catchy...

he's been dancin to the memory
of that time he once knew
when the street light.. was moon light
and his plan was all new
soft rain fallin ... yesterday callin
say it's easy ... so damn easy
he cries...
