Last Dance With A MemoryA Poem by RainI can longer close my eyes and see her face. Let me dance once more with her memory.
Last Dance with a Memory
i will dance with you, one last time
where the sand meets the sea
before all of every yesterday
is no more even memory
i cannot explain where it went
we were so sure love would last
and now i owe you one last dance
to say farewell to visions past
for many years i held you
in your own sacred place
and even when i fell in love
i gave her her's, but not your space
yet time has all but stole you away
something i never dreamed could be
your memory is almost totally gone
the shadows of us, i but barely see
we were to be wed
without promise or vow
an understanding of hearts
a destined fate somehow
for so many years
we drifted apart
i wed who i loved
you loved another's heart
and now, it's come to the end
the corner which belonged always to you
empty and void like an abandoned room
with echos and cobwebs of what time will do
listen as we dance
watch the sea pull a way
prints meant for forever
sacred corners, that didn't stay
But we owe it to each other
to dance one last song
for the years long faded
and the memory at last gone
